Paolo Maccario brings to Silfab Solar over 25 years of experience as CEO of leading international automotive and clean-tech organizations.

Before joining Silfab, he worked as Chief Executive Officer of 6N Silicon Inc., one of the fastest growing Canadian manufacturers of high purity solar grade silicon. Prior to that, he served as President and CEO of Meridian Technologies Inc., a business unit of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and the world’s largest company engaged in the engineering and manufacturing of magnesium products for the global automotive industry. Earlier in his career, Paolo held senior and executive management positions in automotive and industrial organizations operating in the U.S., Mexico, and Italy, including Teksid Aluminum Foundry and various units of Fiat. Paolo holds a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino and an MBA from Duke University and is a proud father of three very successful sons with his wife (and high school sweetheart) Licia.

Based in Toronto, Canada and Houston, Texas, Rob has over 30 years of consulting and executive management experience in the Energy sector.

As CFO at Silfab Solar Inc., Rob brings a wealth of knowledge and experience including 26 years at EY where he was a Senior Partner and Leader of the firm’s Global Oil & Gas Sector. Rob has served on various Boards as an Independent Board Member. He has served as a Transformational CFO for a PE-backed high growth Energy Infrastructure company.

Rob has held many leadership positions throughout his career, including Energy Co-Leader of North America at Oliver Wyman, Global Managing Director of Oil & Gas at Capgemini, and U.S. Energy Sector Leader at EY.

Rob has extensive international experience working with over eighty energy companies in more than one hundred countries around the world. Rob’s skill sets include accounting & finance, business strategy, global program management, business structuring and transactions, and a wide range of transformational initiatives.

In addition, Rob has appeared as an expert witness on a wide variety of financial, accounting, and complex technical matters before the U.S. Department of Energy’s Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and various state, regulatory, and judicial bodies. He also was an instrumental industry adviser to oil pipeline entities who adopted the Master Limited Partnership model.

Rob served for years as a guest lecturer at industry executive training conferences at the Northwestern University Transportation Center where he taught advanced Accounting and Ratemaking Principles. He has been a frequent presenter, speaker, and author on a variety of issues affecting the Energy industry at such venues as The Association of Oil Pipelines, The World Energy Congress, The World Gas Congress, and The World Energy Leaders’ Summit for the World Energy Council. Rob also served as an Energy Industry Advisor at such prestigious events as The World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Geoff Atkins is an experienced International Sales, Business Development and Marketing Executive with a solid track record of building revenue through innovative strategy with an entrepreneurial approach.

Geoff has utilized a creative and passionate approach to developing sales teams and structure that harvest new business and generate dramatic revenue growth. In his capacity as Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer at American Solar Direct based in Los Angeles, Geoff helped architect the residential solar start-up company into a top 10 player in under 2 years by strategically aligning product development, management objectives, financial targets, brand image, customer service, PR, media, promotions and incentives.

As Senior Vice President and General Manager at IMAX Corporation, Geoff was instrumental in the evolution of IMAX’s business strategy that helped establish IMAX as a prominent player in the entertainment industry by securing contracts/partnerships with industry leaders such as AMC Entertainment, Discovery Channel, WGBH Nova, Cineplex, Regal Entertainment Group, Racimec, RAVE Cinema Group and Cinemark USA.

Prior to IMAX, Geoff’s experience includes sales and marketing at Labatt Brewing Company, International Trade Canada in Ottawa, and marketing research as a business development consultant at the Nielson Company.

Treff MacDonald currently holds the title of Chief Operating Officer at Silfab Solar. He has managed the day to day activities of the operation since joining Silfab in October 2011.
Treff’s primary focus is managing multiple disciplines within the organization including Quality, Maintenance, Engineering Logistics and Manufacture. Treff brings to Silfab 18 years of manufacturing experience 14 of which include Operational progressive management positions. Treff’s journey began in the automotive parts manufacturing sector where he spent over 6 years in various management roles with a Tier One supplier his tenure included numerous plant startups and expansions both in Canada and Mexico. In 2008 Treff ventured into the manufacturing side of the Green Energy Sector joining a Silicon refining startup and seeing the startup through to full production volume capacity. His move in 2011 to manage Silfab’s module manufacturing operations was seen as an opportunity round out his PV knowledge as well as to help make his mark on a growing company that is servicing a growing market.

Ryan joined Silfab in 2018 to oversee business development across North America and brings over 12 years of solar experience to the team.

Prior to Silfab, Ryan was a director of sales for SolarEdge Technologies where he helped build out the sales teams and product line up during the company’s rapid growth to be the market leader in the US solar inverter space.  He also brings experience in the solar distribution space as well as development of hydro electric and utility scale solar projects.

Ryan grew up in a small ski town in Ontario, Canada and has carried with him a love of winter sports (skiing, snowboarding, hockey and now sledding with his young children) throughout his life. During summers he enjoys time with the family at the cottage playing on boats, wakeboarding and paddle boarding.

Ryan completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Guelph and subsequently a Masters of Science in Hydrology from the University of Western Ontario

Maurice Smith is a seasoned Sales Executive and Business Development Leader with proven success in renewable energy.

He brings 4 years of experience working in the solar industry as Sales Manager at American Solar Direct based in Los Angeles – a residential solar developer recognized as the 17th fastest growing company in the US and one of the fastest growing residential solar companies at the time.

Since joining in 2014, Maurice has developed, implemented and executed on Silfab’s US strategy. Prior to his start, Silfab’s US business presence was non-existent; as of 2016, the US now represents a large portion of Silfab’s overall business and future growth opportunities.

Prior to the solar industry, Maurice’s experience included developing sales team and go to market strategy with a variety of organizations such as Dell, Hewlett-Packard and Cox Communications.
Maurice holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management from Wichita State University and a Master’s Degree in Management from Harvard University.

Lorraine is an experienced Sales and Marketing executive with a proven track record of leading and building high performing teams and future leaders.

Lorraine joined the Silfab sales and marketing team in late 2018 as Silfab opened its first manufacturing facility in Washington State, US.

Leveraging over 20 years of senior management experience in sales and marketing, Lorraine worked with some of Canada’s largest media and sports brands, international clients and advertising agencies.  In her former role with Rogers Media, she was instrumental in leading the business groups of the magazine division, developing new revenue streams and leading the teams in the transition from traditional media to digital.

In her spare time, Lorraine draws upon her years of people management experience and formal training as an Executive Coach. She is an active runner, loves to hike, travel and spend time with her family at the cottage.

Renee brings over 20 years of senior management experience in both global and domestic manufacturing facilities. Her background includes strategic planning and execution, mergers and acquisitions and contract negotiations. Recently Renee worked as a General Manager for Panasonic in Buffalo, New York, where she was an integral part of the start up team for solar cells and panel manufacturing.

Renee holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and a master’s degree in organizational communication and development from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She is an avid skier in the winter and bikes and kayaks in summer. She is a lifelong resident of the Buffalo, New York, area. She and her husband Mark have two sons and lab named Maxwell.

Carlos Serna has been with our Silfab Solar team for over 8+ years, bringing leadership as part of the core team that worked to have our Silfab brand established in Canada.

Carlos holds a Certificate in Photovoltaics from Seneca College of applied arts and Technology as well as a Diploma in Electronics from his past Navy career.

Carlos’ dedication, passion and commitment is evident in all of his work at Silfab Solar and is at the forefront of his achievements while driving Silfab growth and expansion in North America.
